The Home Econs module is coming to an end NO!! (Do you hear my voice)
Anyway, this journey has been really really great for me and beneficial. I've not only learnt about the healthy foods and nutrition and all that, but I learnt how to cook! Which is what I really need because sometimes I'm alone at home and hungry ): I think I personally have become more conscious of what I eat (THAT'S RIGHT LESS CHEESE I HOPE MRS ABBAS IS PROUD), and what goes inside my food. I'd say I become more foodally aware (do you get it socially aware?? Ok no)
Thank you to Mrs Abbas for making our lessons ridiculously funny, Amirah for tolerating my bullshiz every week for like 2hours (that's just Home Econs) and for all the other kiddos in Kitchen 1 who tolerate my noise levels and craziness or just sit around my unit and chit chat and gossip like #aunties!!! Thank you all for the great experience I love y'all a lot wuhu!!! To round off here's a collage of my test with a filter HAHA

The Task
The Task...
Your mum has requested that you help to prepare a nutritious dish (main course, accompaniment, dessert, snack, etc.) for both your younger sister and you. She has given you $10 to purchase the ingredients at the neighbourhood supermarket. Plan your lunch menu, taking into account the given budget. My Sister...
Age: 11
Height: 1.45m
Weight: 30kg
BMI: 14.3
Food Allergies: None
Generally not a picky eater, except that she dislikes Garlic and Leafy Vegetables.
Me:
Age: 14
Height: 1.58m
Weight: 52kg
BMI: 20.8
Food Allergies: None
But why is my sister underweight even though she is not a picky eater? This is mainly because she does not eat a lot, despite eating almost everything. Besides, she is in her school's Track Team that trains thrice a week.
In order for her to put on the muscle and weight she needs, I decide to make sure that my snack includes protein. But she cannot eat solely protein, because that might have adverse effects.
As such, the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) Chart will help me to further gauge what I need to include in my snack to make it healthier.
Another factor that influenced my choice of recipe is the Food Pyramid.
From the pyramid, we can see that we should have carbohydrates, vegetables, fruit and protein in our meals daily. However, I would like to make a savoury treat for her, so I did not add fruits in my recipe. My final recipe is the mini-chicken pies! (Read the previous post [Trial Run] to see what it's made of!)
Here is also a table that analyses the recipe! It's not the most accurate, because some food stuffs cannot be found there (such as frozen corn and carrot!)

Trial Run
Ello everyone!!! I am back (: I'm going to be talking about my trial run for my test here (:
Here's a photo of what I made and am planning to make! (: It's basically a chicken pie minus the top covering! Here's what I used to make the pie:
For the pastry:
1. 100g Plain Flour
2. 50g Butter
3. Pinch of Salt (It was made even less because the butter was salted butter!)
For the filling:
1. Chicken Meat (Minced or Chopped Finely up to you!)
2. Mixed Veg (The kind you use for Fried Rice)
3. Chicken Stock and Corn Flour
4. Onions
Why did I pick this dish? To give you a general idea, my "sister" (In the scenario) is underweight, which means she needs more protein, not to mention she is in a Sports CCA. However, she cannot only focus on eating meat, because that would have adverse results on her body. She still needs her vegetables and carbohydrates. As such, I have made that possible by adding the mixed vegetables into the pie and let her have her carbohydrates by having the crust!
That's it for the post! More will be up tomorrow or the day after! So look out hehe :D

I-Forgot-Which-Week F&C Lesson
Ello there.
As you can see this is my first post :) And... I forgot the Week Number (I am very sorry Mrs Abbas VERY SORRY!!) Anyway, we made food that made us of a pastry base. :> That's right we made fruit tarts and tuna quiche!
As you can see this is my first post :) And... I forgot the Week Number (I am very sorry Mrs Abbas VERY SORRY!!) Anyway, we made food that made us of a pastry base. :> That's right we made fruit tarts and tuna quiche!
Basically we learnt how to make the pastry from scratch :3 I personally think self-made ones are healthier and less salty so maybe I'll stick with self-made ones next time I make my own foodstuff that involves a pastry base...!
So far I haven't decided what I'm going to make yet though :( But I know how to make what I might want to make healthier (I hope I didn't confuse you with that)
For cooked foods:
1. Less salt
2. More vegetables (I guess)
3. Balanced diet (ADD MEAT FOR PROTEIN :D)
For baked foods:
1. Less sugar
2. Try to make whatever you can make yourself (Pastry etc.)
There we go, that rounds up my very very short blog post! Yay.
